Three school districts serve the
METROCREST:
Carrollton-Farmers Branch,
Lewisville
and Dallas.
In addition to comprehensive academic courses, these three districts
offer instruction in Vocational Education, Gifted and Talented
Education, Special Education, Fine Arts, English as a second
language and a complete athletic program.
Carrollton-Farmers
Branch Independent School District serves primarily northwest
Dallas County, with a smaller portion of the district extending into
southeast Denton County. The 53.42 square miles served by the
system includes portions of the cities of Carrollton, Farmers
Branch, Irving, Dallas, Addison and Coppell.
Approximately 25,600 students attend
the district's 25 elementary schools, six middle schools, four senior
highs, one alternative high school and three special education center.
All the schools are fully accredited by
the Texas Education Agency.
The district carries an AA bond rating
by Moody's Investor Services and an AA rating by Standard and Poor's
Service.
Lewisville Independent District
encompasses 130 square miles in the southeast portion of Denton
County and serves the cities of Lewisville, Flower Mound, The
Colony, Highland Village, Double Oak, Copper Canyon and portions of
Carrollton, Plano, Frisco and Coppell.
The
Lewisville ISD is fully accredited
at all grade levels (K-12) by the Texas Education Agency. All high
schools are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools. Moody's Investor Services has given LISD an A bond rating.
Brookhaven College is part of
the network of seven Dallas County Colleges offering a complete
two-year program of credit courses, continuing education, technical
and occupational programs, and featuring a Business and Professional
Institute.
The
University of North Texas features
a College of Arts and Sciences, Graduate School, College of
Education, School of Human Resource Management, School of Library
and Information Sciences , and a College of Music.
