Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce Welcomes new President/CEO

The Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is pleased to introduce Michael Gallops, IOM, TDM, as the organization’s newly appointed President and CEO, effective Nov. 15. Gallops steps into this vital role, succeeding Hayden Austin, who departed in the summer to join Metrocrest Services.

In his new capacity, Gallops will spearhead the chamber’s mission to bolster the local business landscape and provide exceptional support to its esteemed membership, focusing on leadership development, business expansion, advocacy, economic prosperity, and fostering community cohesion.

Gallops joins the chamber from a distinguished background within the chamber of commerce industry, where he most recently served as the President and CEO of the Rowlett Area Chamber & Visitors Center. During his tenure at the Rowlett Area Chamber, Gallops initiated groundbreaking entrepreneurship training, established a groundbreaking workforce development initiative in collaboration with the Garland ISD, enhanced advocacy efforts significantly, and steered the chamber through the rigorous U.S. Chamber of Commerce Accreditation program, earning a prestigious 4-Star Accreditation.

Gallops’ dedication extends beyond the walls of the chamber. He has been a steadfast contributor to various task forces, boards, and committees, including the Rowlett Economic Development Advisory Board, the Garland ISD Education Foundation Board, the Rowlett Ready COAD, and the Dallas College Eastfield Campus President’s Advisory Council. Gallops also holds key roles on the North Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Board of Directors as Secretary and as the Vice Chair of Communications on the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Board.

“Michael’s extensive experience, expertise, and stellar track record position him perfectly to serve the Metrocrest Chamber and the broader business community,” said Chairman of the Metrocrest Chamber Board of Directors, Harold Shepard. “We are confident that his guidance and expertise will be instrumental in achieving our ambitious goals.”

Gallops holds a Master of Science in Economic Development & Entrepreneurship from the University of Houston – Victoria. He is a graduate of the Institute for Organization Management, the prestigious professional development program offered by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and has recently earned his certification as a Texas Destination Marketer.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be a part of this exciting journey,” Gallops wrote on a LinkedIn post. “Taking on the role of President and CEO at the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce is a privilege, and I’m eager to use my experience and expertise to lead us towards our objectives. Starting on November 15th, I look forward to collaborating with you all to enhance the business landscape in our community. Exciting times are ahead for the Addison, Carrollton, and Farmers Branch communities!”
